Southern Partners  Who are they?

SOS Faim supports rural associations in Africa and Latin America

These associations develop their own projects to fight against rural poverty

To support Southern farmers in a spirit of partnership

The support given to these rural associations is financial, technical and organisational and applies in
the following sectors:

  • Production, transformation and marketing in order to improve farmer agricultural performances
  • Organisation: reinforcement of the capacities of federative farmer associations that are able to influence economical, social or political decisions affecting rural populations
  • Management: reinforcement of capacities through the funding of trainings, the purchase of equipment, a support to running costs

To improve the access of rural populations to financial services and make it durable

SOS Faim believes that microfinance is an efficient (but not miraculous) instrument to fight against poverty as, thanks to it, populations which are excluded from the traditional bank system have access to credits, insurance or even ... savings accounts. Usually, this is the first step towards more remunerative activities. In the end, beneficiaries improve their living conditions, rediscover a certain dignity and are capable of ensuring their economical and social autonomy. In the support given to partner associations, SOS Faim gives particular importance to a reasonable management of microfinance institutions so as to ensure their credibility and continuity in favour of the most.
